Recently I heard a story of the flea and the glass. You’re probably wondering what the story has to do with you. I will explain how this experiment could explain what is holding you back in your career.
Scientists were experimenting with fleas. The fleas were put on a table and jumped 12 inches high without any problems. The scientists then put a tall glass over the fleas and they only jumped 3 inches high. They repeated this process for 30 days and each day the fleas only jumped 3 inches high. They then took the glass away and guess what happened? The flea only jumped 3 inches high.
Can you identify your glass? Is it a lack of self confidence? Is it the fear of failure or the fear of success? Could it be your financial conditioning? Does your glass represent bad habits you’ve developed? Does your glass represent your tendency to procrastinate? Does it represent the fact that you don’t set aggressive goals for yourself? Does it represent the fact that you don’t know your numbers, so you don’t know what RESULTS you need on a daily basis?
The “glass” could also represent people who are negative in your life. It could be people who are opinionated about what you CAN or CAN NOT accomplish. You need to classify these influences as “NOISE”, and ignore them as much as possible.
If you want to advance your career, you need to make changes. Identifying what it is that holds you back is a great first step in realizing a higher level of success.
For the next 30 days….
Identify the NOISE in your life.
Identify three things you do that are a major waste of your time and stop doing them.
Identify the 20% of your actions that provides 80% of your results - and do more of those activities.
Once you are “aware” of your glass, you can remove it and then there is no limit to how high you can jump!
